About us
Our Story
Hikayetna is a not-for-profit community organisation based in London.
Founded in 2014, Hikayetna is a London-based community organisation established to address the lack of access to cultural and creative opportunities for underrepresented communities. We use storytelling as a tool to promote inclusion, strengthen community voices and build meaningful connections between people from different backgrounds.
We design and deliver community-led creative programmes that enable participants to share their experiences, develop their voices and build confidence through storytelling and the arts. Our approach is inclusive and participatory, creating welcoming spaces where people can explore their identities, learn from one another and develop a stronger sense of belonging.
Specifically, we.
1-Facilitate storytelling, photography and film workshops and platforms for marginalised communities to amplify their voices and share their experiences, fostering empathy and understanding among diverse groups.
2- Create a platform for underrepresented young people, including refugees and migrants, to share their stories, express their creativity, and amplify their voices within the community.
3-Create opportunities for cultural exchange and dialogue through community events, art exhibitions, and interactive projects to promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.
