A new sculpture by Syrian Kurdish artist Zahed Hassan, unveiled last week to honour the Nesodden city council and teachers who welcomed him as a refugee.
Hasan gifted the “A teacher” to the city at a ceremony on Wednesday. The 150 cm tall sculpture has been installed in a garden at Nesodden.
In 2014 Hassan arrived in Norway with his family after he fled war which began in Syrian 2011.
Hassan said the sculpture was a way of showing respect to the teachers who supported Hassan and other refugees when they moved to Norway.
There are about 5.6 million Syrian refugees, and another 6.2 million people are displaced within Syria.
